Thousands of people, including many children, have had their lives turned upside down by Hurricane Helene. Homes and livelihoods have been destroyed. The people of Roanoke are heartbroken for our neighbors to the south of us and are mobilizing to help them rebuild.
Phase One of the response was Disaster Relief. People and organizations mobilized to rescue people and brought essential supplies like water and food. Now that people are getting stabilized and power and communications are being restored, we are entering into Phase Two which is Rebuilding.
Belmont is helping to coordinate a Rebuilding Response out of Roanoke and inviting people and organizations from the area to participate. Our efforts will be focused on assisting families in Western NC to get back on their feet by helping to rebuild their homes and restore their property. Three ways to get involved are to: Go Serve. Give Financially. Donate Supplies.
Go Serve
We will be taking volunteer teams to Western NC starting in early November to help with Rebuilding. If you, your friends, or your organization are interested in serving for a few days, or even an entire week, then let us know. Our first trip is scheduled for November 14-16. Give Financially
We plan to raise $20,000 by November 15, 2024. Belmont will match the first $5,000 raised. We are looking for another organization to match the second $5,000. Together with donations of $10,000 from individuals, we will reach our goal of $20,000. All of these funds will help families in Western NC rebuild what was destroyed. Donate Supplies
We are collecting supplies to help with Rebuilding. This collection of tools and resources will be used by volunteer teams and storm victims to make a long-lasting difference.
