Day 8 | Karin Shelor
John 1: 14-17
God Became a Human
The word became human. By doing this, Christ became 3 things :
(1) the perfect teacher: In Jesus’ ’ life we see how God thinks and how we should think.
(2) the perfect example: Jesus shows us how to live and gives us the power to live in that way.
(3) the perfect sacrifice: Jesus came and died for the sins of all mankind.
Jesus is God’s one and only unique son. He is one of a kind and enjoys a unique relationship with God.
When Jesus was born, God became human. He was completely divine. Because of this, mankind can fully know God and have a relationship with him. As we get to know Jesus better, our understanding of God will increase.
Day 7 | The Ross Family
John 7:1-5
Lampstand and the Living Water
As we begin this wonderful holiday season, it is
imperative that we take some time to realize the
significance of the Festival of Tabernacles. This was a time
of great joy and served as a reminder of God’s
deliverance, protection, provision, and faithfulness. During
this time, offerings were presented to the Lord. Four giant
lampstands (imagine a 70-foot lamp!) were lit and are
believed to have been so bright that each courtyard in
Jerusalem was lit up by them. Water was drawn each
morning, carried to the temple, and poured on the altar in
a great offering. Yeshua declared that He would pour out
the Holy Spirit on those that believed in Him. The water
came from The Pool of Siloam, which was known as the
“living water.” Jesus, being fully God and man, knew the
significance of this ceremony and knew that He is the light
that penetrates the darkness, the final, great sacrifice, and
the only living water. Hallelujah! Through all the busyness
that the season brings, let’s take a moment to reflect on the
deliverance, protection, provision, and faithfulness of our
Lord, Jesus Christ. Think of one way you or your family can
show Jesus and be the light to others.
Day 6 | The Drake Family
Micah 7:7-9
The Light of the World
Here in Micah we get a battle plan for hard times.
Verse 7: Cry out to the LORD and wait expectantly
Verse 8: Denounce Satan & acknowledge that the Light is
the only way out of darkness
Verse 9: Look inward – confess sin against a Holy God and
our inability to rescue ourselves
The cry for salvation or deliverance is a steady theme
throughout the bible. We send out this same cry for help in
the midst of difficult relationships or work conditions,
financial turmoil or when we wrestle with sin. From the
beginning of time mankind has recognized the need for
someone to rescue them. Jesus came to our ultimate
rescue when He was born in a manger, lived a sinless life,
died for our sins, and defeated death by rising from the
grave! Though we live in a dark world, the LORD is our Light.
What emotions, pains, or actions do you try to keep hidden
from Him and others? Recognize and denounce spiritual
warfare, out loud, and lay your heart bare before the Light
of the world who took away your sins.

Day 5 | Pam Hamilton
Isaiah 40: 3-8
“The word of our God shall stand for forever.” What an
incredible statement of truth and a promise to all
mankind. So much of life today is temporary … material
items don’t last, relationships don’t last , jobs do not last
and money is here one day and gone tomorrow. Even a
person’s life on earth has a time limit. To know that God’s
word will stand forever is such a blessing. In times of
uncertainty, we can claim God’s word forever. What a
comfort to us as we travel through life each day. This is truly
“ the glory of Jehovah ” prophesied so long ago.
Day 4 | Pam Hamilton
Isaiah 61:1-3
.
This passage reminds us of the promises of
Jesus. Jesus is the only one who can bring us comfort in our
mourning. He can bind up the broken-hearted, also. What
a wonderful promise we can embrace What are you
mourning in your life today ? There are so many issues and
situations which can cause us to mourn and be
broken-hearted. Perhaps you are dealing with health
issues, financial issues, relationship issues or school or work
issues. These can all result in hearts that are broken. Through
Jesus Christ we can receive comfort and relief from our
brokenness. What a joy to know this and claim the
promises of Christ’s comfort. This promise is available to
all of us …. Claim it today !
Day 3 | Evelyn Olsen
Luke 1: 30-35
An amazing event was happening in Nazareth, to a young
virgin named Mary. Gabriel, the angel who stands in the
presence of God, is visiting her and is about to tell her some
breathtaking news. She was going to be the mother of the
Messiah; who was prophesied about! The Jewish people
were greatly anticipating the arrival of the Messiah. Jewish
historians claim that each Jewish woman in Mary’s day
prayed secretly that she might be chosen to become the
mother of the Messiah. Now, Mary is told that she is the
favored one!! This virginal conception was so miraculous!
We read about the Holy Spirit overshadowing Mary, Jesus
being implanted in the womb of Mary, and Gabriel saying
that this child is The Son of God! May we always be in awe
of the birth of our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ.
